Maggie Lu is a senior computational scientist on the Healthy Atlas team that aims to build a comprehensive map of all the cell types across human tissues. Before joining Cartography, she was a bioinformatician in the department of biomedical informatics at UPenn and received her Ph.D. from UC Riverside. Her previous work includes studying T-cells and macrophages functioning in patients receiving CAR therapies, understanding the gene expression and regulation system in malaria parasites, constructing bioinformatics pipelines, and applying machine learning approaches for gene discovery. When not at work, she enjoys volunteering at the city community center and local pet shelters. She also loves baking, gardening, and acrylic painting.
